The Los Angeles College Faculty Guild or AFT Local 1521, is the exclusive bargaining agent representing over 4,000 full-time and adjunct faculty working in the nine community colleges within the Los Angeles Community College District. Our Guild has represented the district’s faculty since the beginning of collective bargaining in California’s community colleges in 1977, and is the largest local union of community college faculty in California.
In addition, we belong to the statewide affiliate California Federation of Teachers (CFT) as well as the nationwide affiliate of the AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers(AFT), representing over 1.72 million members, making us a movement of higher education faculty dedicated to serving our students and communities.
