Today’s Action and Voter Information

Hi All,

As you read this, I’m heading downtown to join some of our faculty, asking the Trustees to ensure the district keeps their promises in the contract we ratified last year – particularly around paying our adjuncts for their work and keeping our campuses clean and in working order.  We’ve spent much of this semester working to finish contract implementation, and we will stay locked in on this as the year continues.

We are fighting to ensure our students’ access to and success in education.  Next Friday, we’re holding a Fix AB 1705 Symposium at Mission College, featuring some of our district’s faculty leaders in Math, English, and Counseling, students, and our FACCC President-elect Oranit Limmaneeprasert. As the next legislative session comes up, our Guild and community college faculty are united to Fix AB 1705.  Please RSVP here so we can have enough food and seats – we’ll meet from 9:30-11:00 before commemorating Pat Allen at Valley College midday.

As you know, we are in the middle of a critical election where AFT members are standing for leadership locally and nationally.  Our student internship project has done remarkable work supporting student and faculty-friendly candidates across our region, and you can sign up to join them locally or join our fellow union members in Nevada and Arizona here!  Our first local Faculty Power Friday is set for October 18 at 5!  Please see our AFT and CFT interactive guide to voting and getting involved in the election below.

As always, your unwavering dedication to our communities fills me with pride as I lead our Guild.  I eagerly anticipate our collective efforts this semester and beyond, united in our commitment to our cause.
