CFT Lobby Day | May Day – May 4, 2022

Hi All,

Sorry, I didn’t get a Wednesday Win out last week; I was in Sacramento with nine of our colleagues for CFT Lobby Day. CFT Lobby Day is an annual event to push CFT-sponsored and cosponsored legislation supporting education in Sacramento. It was announced that our local had the largest turnout in the state. I want to thank Felipe Agredano, Angela Belden, Alex DeJean, Tracy Harkins, Sharon Hendricks, Erinn Horton, Daniel Judge, and Natalina Montiero for making the trip. I also want to thank Chase Golding and CFT for their help in coordinating and sponsoring some of our members. We all flew up early in the morning, spent the day meeting with legislators, and flew back late that evening. It was an exhausting but very productive day. We need to increase our advocacy for education and our members.

On Monday, over twenty students and faculty joined thousands of people for the May Day March. As you know, Mayday is International Workers Day. The march culminated multiple May Day events district-wide, including those by the Dolores Huerta Institute and Kristine Wright and South West College, holding May Day lectures for the district community. Advocacy and education are the things that will ensure that our students and union continue to win in the future. I have included pictures from both events.
