Gearing Up for Negotiations – November 10th, 2022 November 10, 2022 Hi All, It’s been a busy week with tragedy, bravery, and movement. On Monday, there was a fatal stabbing in the student parking lot of Los Angeles City College. For several hours the campus was placed on lockdown. Faculty, including guild campus president Christine Park were sheltered in place with their students. Christine had to set aside her fear for her own safety to bravely help her students overcome a terrifying situation. Faculty showed courage and care, calming their students and keeping them safe. Our love for our students and communities is never more evident than in tragic moments. Our hearts and gratitude go out to all the City family, ensuring that no one else was hurt during this tragic event. We must keep working to make our campuses safer and provide crisis counseling to students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Gearing up for Contract Negotiations! The second topic I would like to address is contract negotiations. We have synthesized our data and are ready to share what our members thought were the crucial issues we should negotiate in the next contract (please see the attachment). Friday, we had a contract campaign kickoff for our contract negotiations team, EBoard, and official committees. This was a highly energetic event to develop our team and begin the planning stage of the contract campaign. We will be reaching out to each of you, asking for your help to get us the contract you deserve.
