Adjunct Healthcare Workgroup Formed – November 17th, 2022

Hi All,

For today’s Wednesday Win, I am happy to say that administration has invited us to participate in a workgroup for adjunct healthcare. As you know, the state has allotted two hundred million dollars for adjunct healthcare, but it is up to individual districts to implement. We have had countless adjuncts and full-timers fighting for healthcare equity for years. Bill Elarton-Selig has been pushing the administration to the table since the legislation passed. Immediately after the last Board of Trustees meeting and after hearing the passionate voices of our members, the administration asked us to participate in a workgroup. I have spoken with the Chancellor, and this workgroup seeks to work cooperatively to get adjuncts healthcare within the state guidelines. Three other districts have recently created tentative agreements for adjunct healthcare; we can do this too. None of this could be possible without the decades of hard work of AFT 1521, CFT, and unions up and down the state. We are almost there and may need you for a final push. I know you will be there in support of each other because that is what we do and who we are.

In Unity,

A. James McKeever PhD

AFT 1521 Faculty Guild President
